The Carpenter's House is a unique mentorship program Lead by Architectural Engineer Jerry Vesey offering engaging spring and summer building projects. Children ages eight to seventeen years old learn how to use basic building tools to execute entry level carpentry, electrical, and plumbing projects. Each building project is designed to produce something that will be used in the child's daily life or that can be donated to improve someone else's life. Typical carpentry projects include coffee tables, end tables, beds, and desks. More advance builds include projects like sheet rock installation, plumbing fixture installation, tiling and lighting fixture installation. In addition to being a fun experience, the skills learned provide youth that desire to work in these fields in the future a head start to becoming a successful member of the skilled labor force; increasing their ability to compete for well-paying jobs or even start their own business.
The Carpenter's House is hosting a FREE 2024 Summer build project for kids ages 10-16. Each participant will be instructed on how to build their own wooden bed frame. The program starts on July 25th and runs through the 27th.
